Grace Ludmila - "Hollow"
Grace Ludmila has shared her first new music since 2018, a powerful new single entitled “Hollow.” The song, which Ludmila wrote “as a response to people who treat you as a character rather than a person,” is riddled with anguish and delivered with unrestrained intensity. With razor-sharp guitars that swell with rage, Ludmila chillingly confronts those aforementioned people, describing “the things you wish you’d said if you hadn’t felt paralyzed.” It’s cathartic but also rings with that familiar sinking feeling of regret as situations replay inside your mind. Her words weave in and out of guitar distortion and furious drums, further amplifying the rollercoaster of emotions that bleed through the lyrics.
Ludmila’s greatest strength on “Hollow” is the vigor in her voice and the resolute sincerity conveyed through her words. Her confessional lyrical delivery injects just the right amount of heart for the moment, wavering from soft to furious. Quite perfectly, she saves the song’s finest, most powerful moment for last, as amongst an enveloping wave of guitars, she delivers the final line with sheer force: “You can’t just rip out my best parts because there’s more room for you when I’m hollow.”
