Ames Harding & The Mirage - "Until Daylight"

Pittsburgh’s Ames Harding & the Mirage are closing out 2022 with their latest single, “Until Daylight,” which we’re excited to premiere today. It follows the October release of “Zolky Tawa,” a billowing, folk-rock epic that took listeners on a five-minute sonic journey. “Until Daylight” elicits similar emotions, but takes a different route to get there.

“Until Daylight” is a bit briefer when compared to its predecessor, but it's not short on emotional firepower. The song builds off of an animated guitar riff that’s surrounded by rich auxiliary percussion elements. Harding and his backing band work in several ear-wormy features that help make the foundational vocal melody thrive including gorgeous three-part harmonies, a toe-tapping groove, and bouncy keys. Harding shared that the band’s intention “was to make a song that was accessible and direct, that people could move to and listen to.” I hopped out of my seat during my first listen, so the band can rest easy knowing they achieved their stated goal.
