Nite Music - “Never Let You Go”
Nite Music was born from the ashes of the longtime Brooklyn indie rock outfit No Ice, one of my personal favorite local acts of the 2010s. After the dissolution of No Ice, frontman Jamie Frey started Nite Music in 2022 and has since released a pair of swinging tracks with a Replacements-esque aura in “Shit City” and “(I’ve Got To Make) The Call.” Today, the band returns with their first new music since the release of those two bangers in 2023. We’re excited to premiere “Never Let You Go.”
“Never Let You Go” is an epic and earwormy tune that’s littered with golden power pop nuggets. Starting with a playfully ramshackle amalgamation of guitars, drums, and bass, the song briefly pauses before launching into a full-throttled barrage of rock ‘n roll goodness. Frey has a knack for honing in on the simple things that make songs memorable, like an unforgettable chorus. This track definitely boasts that and then some, as Frey’s anchoring refrain “I’ll never let you go” is backed by what can only be described as anthemic guitars and a locked-in rhythm section. In addition to solid contributions from permanent members Bryan Thornton (guitar), Amanda Webster (bass), and Jamie Williams (drums), the song also features Shilpa Ray on synths and backing vocals from Lily Rothman. Frey dedicated the song to longtime scene mainstay Ryan Damien, who tragically passed away earlier this year.
